Polymerization grade isosorbide was obtained by special reaction and separation techniques, continuous production of high quality isosorbide at low cost.
Using unique reaction and separation equipment, Dodgen has developed the production technology of continuous reactive distillation, melt crystallization and purification to obtain high quality polymerized isosorbide. The yield of the product can reach more than 85%, and the content is more than 99%. The catalyst can be recycled, less equipment investment, low energy consumption, and has completed the development of PBIST pilot process. It can replace the batch reaction production technology with concentrated sulfuric acid as catalyst. This backward technology has the problems of low conversion efficiency and high energy consumption, which restricts the industrial large-scale production of isosorbide. Therefore, it is urgent to establish a continuous production process with high efficiency catalysis. In recent years, the research focus of isosorbide is to use it as a copolymer to modify the existing polymer, improve its physical properties and improve the performance of polyester.
