Direct air carbon capture (DAC) , called DAC for short, is one of the few technologies that can remove carbon dioxide directly from the atmosphere. DAC technology can be visualized as industrial "photosynthesis", The DAC system captures carbon dioxide on the surface of a filter coated with a special chemical, where it forms a compound. The new compound is heated to release the captured carbon dioxide and separate it from the chemical, which can then be recycled. Carbon dioxide recovery can be achieved more efficiently using DAC compared to other carbon dioxide reduction techniques such as afforestation.
